Certification Exam Development
The CTP and FPAC certification exams are developed by certified subject matter experts (SMEs). SMEs participate in in-person workshops lasting two to three days, where they are trained and guided by professional test development consultants to write and review exam questions and determine exam content outlines and passing scores. Each certification program holds one to three workshops per year.
SMEs are recruited to ensure broad representation across industries, job levels, and geographic regions. Participants must hold the credential associated with the exam they are developing. After participating in a workshop, SMEs become part of a pool eligible for invitation to future workshops, though ongoing participation is not required.
SMEs who participate in exam development may not teach or develop exam preparation materials for a period of two years.
Certification Body of Knowledge Development
The CTP Body of Knowledge, Essentials of Treasury Management, is updated every three years by a committee of approximately 20 subject matter experts (SMEs). Committee members are selected to ensure comprehensive coverage of all topics within the body of knowledge.
Participants review assigned chapters from the previous edition and attend a three-day in-person meeting to discuss recommended updates and revisions. A professional editor then updates the content over the following year.
Throughout the process, committee members review their assigned chapters and collaborate with the editor through web conferences. Each member participates in approximately 15 web conferences during the year-long project.
