Opportunity Details

Certification Exam Development

The CTP and FPAC certification exams are developed by certified subject matter experts (SMEs). SMEs participate in in-person workshops lasting two to three days, where they are trained and guided by professional test development consultants to write and review exam questions and determine exam content outlines and passing scores. Each certification program holds one to three workshops per year.

SMEs are recruited to ensure broad representation across industries, job levels and geographic regions. Participants must hold the credential associated with the exam they are developing. After participating in a workshop, SMEs become part of a pool eligible for invitation to future workshops, though ongoing participation is not required.

SMEs who participate in exam development may not teach or develop exam preparation materials for a period of two years.

CTP Body of Knowledge

The CTP Body of Knowledge, Essentials of Treasury Management, is updated every three years by a committee of approximately 20 subject matter experts (SMEs). Committee members are selected to ensure comprehensive coverage of all topics within the body of knowledge.

Participants review assigned chapters from the previous edition and attend a three-day in-person meeting to discuss recommended updates and revisions. A professional editor then updates the content over the following year.

Throughout the process, committee members review their assigned chapters and collaborate with the editor through web conferences. Each member participates in approximately 15 web conferences during the year-long project.

Advisory Groups (Treasury, FP&A and Enterprise Payments)

The FP&A Advisory Council connects finance practitioners with AFP by sharing industry insights, shaping thought leadership and helping advance the FP&A profession. Council members identify emerging issues, contribute expertise to content such as articles, surveys and guides, and support AFP initiatives through professional engagement and networking.

Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, the council helps strengthen AFP’s thought leadership and supports the development of resources and programming that benefit the FP&A community.

AFP Member Mentor Program

The AFP Mentor Program connects members through one-on-one mentoring relationships designed to support career growth, leadership development and professional connection.

Through structured conversations and shared experiences, mentors and mentees exchange perspectives, develop new skills and build meaningful relationships that support long-term professional development.
